If you have ever messed with a Cisco ASR 920, you’ll know that certain firmware loads have major issues. Symptoms include, the memory rising slowly over time, then peaking around 98 percent, then crashing. Only way to resolve is to pull the power. Other symptoms include an ARP issue when using MPLS/VPLS. Since a firmware upgrade has been done for the latter symptom this problem has not happened again.
Other thoughts:
The Cisco ASR 920 is a very solid solution for any enterprise or ISP solution. It offers 10Gbps interfaces, a multitude of configuration options, and supports the latest networking trends and protocols. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs 10Gbps interfaces.
